General purpose disposableP1 respiratorsare designed to be worn over the mouth and nose once and then thrown away. Once taken off, these masks should not be reused since doing so could result in hazardous particles that were filtered during initial use being transferred onto other surfaces.
What is the P1 Rating
The P1 rating is given to a respirator for protection against mechanically generated dust particles eg. Particles that can be formed as a result of drilling, grinding, cutting and sanding.
Disposable respirators with exhalation valves can be used to protect the wearer in environments with dangerous airborne particles, such as construction zones and manufacturing plants.
The valve closes automatically when the wearer breathes in to prevent exposure. When the wearer breathes out, the valve opens to keep the wearer cool and refreshed. Since the wearer's breath is not filtered on the way out, these are not suitable to prevent the transmission of biologically active particles.
